ROUND UP- County Championship Action from Around Connacht!

There were 4 Quarter Finals this weekend in the Senior Football Championship in Sligo. Champions Tourlestrane had a 6 point victory over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point and will play the winners of the replay between Shamrock Gaels and Calry/St Josephs in the Semi Final after they played out an exciting draw yesterday. St Mary’s struck for 7 goals in their Quarter Final win over Coolaney/Mullinabreena and they will play Coolera Strandhill after their win over Tubbercurry in the other Semi Final. Both games take place the weekend of the 5th and 6th of October.

The Intermediate Championship Quarter Finals take place next weekend the 28th and 29th of September. On Saturday Easkey meet Enniscrone Kilglass while on Sunday St Farnans play St Johns, Castleconnor take on Geevagh and Curry face Bunninadden.

 

Corofin had six points to spare over Mountbellew Moylough in the Galway Senior Football Quarter Final this past weekend, while Salthill/Knocknacarra edged out Claregalway by a point, Tuam Stars beat An Spidéal by 3 and Moycullen beat St Michaels by 5 points in a game that saw 5 players shown red cards. In the Semi Finals Corofin will take on Salthill Knocknacarra and Moycullen play Tuam Stars on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of October.

The Intermediate Semi Finals took place this weekend and saw Mícheál Breathnachs and Oughterard qualify for the final after wins over Cortoon Shamrocks and Dunmore MacHales respectively.

 

Next weekend is Semi Final Weekend in The Leitrim Senior and Intermediate Football Championships. On Saturday Glencar Manorhamilton meet Melvin Gaels in the Senior Championship and Ballinagleara face Drumkeerin in the Intermediate Championship. On Sunday Sean O’Heslins take on Mohill in the Senior Championship and Annaduff play Leitrim Gaels in the Intermediate.

It was also Quarter Final weekend in Mayo. Ballintubber defeated Belmullet 1-12 to 1-8, Castlebar Mitchels beat Knockmore by 2, Ballina Stephenites had a 5 point win over Breaffy after a thriller in extra time and Ballaghderreen had a comfortable win against Davitts. Ballintubber have been drawn against Ballina and Castlebar Mitchels will play Ballaghderreen in the semi finals, with full fixture details to be confirmed this week.

In the Intermediate Championship, Ballyhaunis had too much for Ardnaree, Louisburgh had 8 points to spare over Parke, Burrishoole edged out Crossmolina by a point and The Neale had an impressive 8 point win over Kiltimagh. The Semis see The Neale versus Louisburgh and Ballyhaunis against Burrishoole, with fixture details for these games announced later this week also.

In the Senior Quarter Finals this weekend in Roscommon, Strokestown beat Fuerty 1-10 to 1-8, Padraig Pearses had 6 points to spare over St Brigids, Boyle beat Michael Glaveys by 8 points and Roscommon Gaels saw off Elphin by the same margin. In the Semi Finals next weekend Roscommon Gaels play Strokestown and Boyle play Padraig Pearses.

The Intermediate Championship Semi Finals also take place next weekend, with Oran facing Castlerea and Tulsk playing St Dominics.
