Connacht GAA Football Training Initiative for Club Players

Connacht GAA have organised a designated football training night for Connacht Club players based in and around the Dublin area.

Connacht GAA have launched a club players training initiative in the National Games Development Centre in Abbotstown. The Initiative aims to provide Dublin based club players from Connacht  a designated football training night at the centre.

As there are a great many club players from the province based in the capital the initiative will provide organised coaching sessions, once a week at the National Games Development Centre in Abbotstown for the players from the Connacht Clubs. It aims to assist the club player with an organised coaching session midweek when players are unable to commute home for their own club sessions, and also it assists the club that they can send their club player to these organised coaching sessions knowing that the player is not missing out when he is unable to commute home.

With its easy access directly off the M50 at exit 6 it is felt that this venue will be ideal for Players to access from all parts of the locality.

The training schedule will commence on Wednesday 4th May 2016 and will continue every Wednesday, each session will start at 7.30pm and will last for ninety minutes. Each block of training will continue for 6 weeks.

The cost for the 6 weeks is €50

Registration will take place from 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday 4th May and players can join on any subsequent evening if they miss out on the first coaching session. Players may also register by contacting the Connacht Council office at 0949630335.

The coaches on the night will be Brian Talty, the well-known former Galway player and Dublin coach, and Ciaran McDonagh, former Irish Athletic record holder, and a current Athletics and G.A.A coach. Other experienced qualified coaches will also be on-hand as support staff. John Tobin, the Connacht Provincial Games Manager, will also be in attendance to offer assistance.

Speaking at the launch, Connacht G.A.A President Mick Rock welcomed all of the attendees and expressed the wish that the magnificent facility will become an adopted home for all of the Connacht based club players who wished to avail of it.
