The Connacht Senior and Under 16 Poc Fada competitions for hurling and Camogie are on once again this Monday 7th July in the usual destination of the Connacht GAA COE. The event commences at 7pm with all competitors are asked to be in attendance no later than 6.15pm for registration and information briefing.
There is a strong line up of contenders in all grades. In terms of hurling the following are travelling from the counties of the province:
Galway: Senior – Jason Kennedy (Ardrahan) and Sean Nugent (Carnmore)
Under 16 – Ultan O’ Connor (Ardrahan) and Oran Stratford (Sarsfields)
Mayo: Senior – Bobby Douglas (Tooreen)
Under 16 – Cian Byrne (Castlebar Mitchels hurling club) and Zach Smith (Ballyhaunis)
Leitrim: Senior – Sean Keane (Carrick Hurling)
Under 16 – John O’ Brien (Cluanin Iomaint)
Roscommon: Senior – Noel Fallon (Four Roads)
Under 16 – Colm Fitzgerald (St Dominics)
Sligo: Senior – Robert O Kelly Lynch (Naomh Eoin) and Ruairi Brennan (Tourlestrane).
Under 16 – Josh O’ Brien (Easkey) and Eoghan Flynn (Tourlestrane)
The reigning Connacht Poc Fada champion in senior mens is Noel Fallon (Four Roads – Roscommon) whilst Colm Fitzgerald from (St Dominics) is the title holder at Under 16 level. In senior camogie Susan Earner from (Meelick Eyrecourt) is the reigning champion with Leah Horan (Killimor) the current title holder at U16.
