It is with deep sadness that we have heard of the passing of our friend and colleague Padraic Ó’Conaire. Pádraic was a proud member of Micheál Breathnachs and originally from Naomh Anna, Leitir Mór.
For over 30 years, Pádraic dedicated his working life to the GAA in the Gaeltacht, giving exceptional service marked by unwavering commitment, deep passion, and a genuine love for our games. From the very beginning of Clár na gCluichí Gaeltachta more than three decades ago, Pádraic led the scheme with outstanding care and devotion, playing a vital role in strengthening our clubs, communities, and culture through sport.
Beyond his professionalism, Pádraic brought warmth, fun, and charisma to everything he did. He had a natural way with people, a great sense of humour, and an infectious enthusiasm that lifted those around him. He was not only a valued colleague, but a trusted friend — deeply respected by all who worked with him.
Padraic’s passing leaves a profound void within our organisation and across the Gaeltacht GAA community. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the enduring impact of his work.
We offer our deepest condolences to Pádraic’s beloved wife Brídín, his children Padraic Óg, Mikey, Maureen, Treasa, Sharon and all his grandchildren, extended family, and many friends at this incredibly difficult time.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
