Busy Week of Connacht Championship Action at Different Grades
It’s a busy week of Championship football in the province, with two Connacht Junior Championship Semi Finals on Wednesday and Thursday night and Round 2 of the Connacht Minor Championship also taking place on Friday night. The action then culminates of course with the heavyweight meeting between Galway and Mayo in the Connacht Senior Quarter Final in MacHale Park at 4pm on Sunday.
On Wednesday night in Tuam Galway Juniors face Sligo at 7pm in one semi final while Leitrim host Mayo at 7pm in Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday evening. The winners of these two games will meet in the Final on Sunday at 2pm, which is a curtain raiser to the massive Mayo and Galway clash in MacHale Park.
On Friday night in the Connacht Minor Championship, Mayo travel to Kiltoom to take on Roscommon and Markievicz Park is the venue for Sligo versus Galway. Both games throw in at 7pm. Mayo and Galway had good wins in Round 1 over Leitrim and Roscommon respectively while this is Sligo’s first game in the competition.
