Pearse Stadium will host two games this Sunday 11th June. Kick Off at 1:30pm and 4pm. All Supporters and Patrons are urged to plan their journey and to arrive early, in order to avoid traffic congestion and delays. An Garda Síochána will be policing traffic and parking violations. The GAA are requesting, through clubs and media, that all Patrons arrive early, to park in the designated Car Parks and to park legally and responsibly at all times. Local Food and Beverage businesses in Salthill will be offering discounted prices to Match Day ticket holders before and after the games.
It is expected that attendance will be over 20,000 and as such high traffic volumes are expected in Galway, Salthill and Pearse Stadium areas as a result. Galway City Council & An Garda Síochána have met with the Galway GAA and Pearse Stadium Committees in preparation for the fixtures.
A Traffic Management Plan is being put in place to ensure that delays are minimised. Bus Eireann will operate an increase public transport service between Eyre Square and Salthill and GAA clubs are organising private buses also to the match. This will include priority to all traffic on the Threadneedle, Bishop O’Donnell Road, Seamus Quirke Road, Quincentenary Bridge, Headford Road and Bothar na Dtreabh as per attached map. Galway City Council will monitor our Traffic Control System and the Gardaí will direct traffic at all primary junction along this route. All Supporters and patrons are advised to use this route to and from the stadium and to avoid the city centre.
